ROPA method

The ROPA method, or reception of the oocytes from partner (also known as partner-assisted reproduction), is an Assisted Reproduction technique exclusively for female couples where both women actively share the maternity process.

One of the women will provide the eggs (the donor) and the other one will become pregnant (the recipient).

Who is it recommended for?

Female couples that wish to share the maternity process and where the women donating the eggs has a good ovarian reserve.

Treatment Phases

1. Ovarian Stimulation

The donor’s hormonal treatment (10-12 days) will begin on the 2nd day of her period and it will be monitored by ultrasound scans.

2. Preparing the endometrium

The recipient prepares her endometrium at the same time as her partner is undergoing ovarian stimulation.

3. Follicular Puncture

Oocytes are retrieved through transvaginal puncture – aspiration. The best spermatozoa are selected from the donor’s sperm sample.

4. Fertilisation

The best spermatozoa are selected from a donor sperm sample and microinjected into each egg (ICSI microinjection). We keep the embryos in our incubators until they reach the blastocyst stage.

5. Pregnancy Test

10 days later you will take a pregnancy test.
