Egg donation is an assisted reproduction technique that uses anonymous donor eggs to create maximum quality embryos. It can be done with donor sperm or sperm from your partner.
Types of Egg Donation
How are donors selected?
- Donors are anonymous women, under 35, without health problems and without a family history of any health problems, who have undergone numerous medical, psychological, and genetic examinations.
- The ideal donor is selected based on the recipient’s physical traits and blood type.
- If you would like, donors can be selected based on genetic compatibility (genetics matching).
As well as being able to retrieve fresh eggs (after the donor’s follicular puncture), the treatment can also be done with vitrified (frozen) eggs from our own egg bank.
The pregnancy rates are the same, but the main difference is that less time is needed to prepare the endometrium (starting directly with oestrogens in conjunction with menstruation) since the donor and the recipient don’t need to synchronise cycles. In addition, you can decide on the exact day for the transfer since we thaw the eggs based on the chosen date.
